Nan Tien Institute
Launched in 2011, within the grounds of the Nan Tien Buddhist Temple, in Wollongong, New South Wales, Nan Tien Institute (NTI) is a private, not for profit, higher education provider offering studies in the areas of arts, health, mindfulness and wellbeing. Today NTI operates from its own state-of-the-art Campus, which incorporates contemplative pedagogy and fosters an environment for holistic learning, allowing students to contribute to the advancement and integration of knowledge, culture and ethical understanding, both within their own lives and within the lives of others. Accredited by the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency, Nan Tien Institute offers postgraduate programs in Applied Buddhist Studies and Health and Social Wellbeing, as well as customised Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs and special interest subjects across the areas of mindfulness, meditation and health.
Fees and Scholarships

Postgraduate study is about reaching your full potential by gaining specialist qualifications to advance your career. Nan Tien Institute has affordable fees, designed to make this innovative and holistic education available to all.
There are also a number of scholarships available for both domestic and international postgraduate students, to assist financially with course fees, accommodation costs and living expenses. This enables students to focus on their studies.
The scholarships have a strong emphasis on social inclusion and equity and are awarded on the basis of financial need and/or other hardship. Some also recognise factors such as academic excellence.

Description of Ideal Candidate:
1. The applicant must have been admitted or been offered admission to one of the following Applied Buddhist Studies courses at NTI:
Master of Arts (Applied Buddhist Studies)
Graduate Diploma of Applied Buddhist Studies
Graduate Certificate in Applied Buddhist Studies
2. The applicant must be a citizen of an overseas country (excluding New Zealand), and not normally reside in Australia.
Selection will be based on academic merit, reasons for undertaking the course, interview performance if required. The decision on award will be made by the HYEF Selection Committee.
Applicants are required to submit their application for admission to NTI prior to applying for the Scholarship. The number assigned to the online application for admission or current student ID must be indicated. Otherwise, the scholarship application is considered incomplete and will not be processed further.
Value of Award
1. There are ten (10) scholarships available to awarded over two (2) semesters annually.
2. Each scholarship will provide for the following:
*Tuition fees for the course of study at NTI;
*Twin share accommodation at the Pilgrim Lodge of Nan Tien Temple;
*Vegetarian meals provided by Nan Tien Temple.
The scholarship does not include the cost of visa application, health check or health cover, travel insurance, living expenses, books or any other additional expenses associated with living in Australia or study at NTI or accompaniment by family members.
3. The scholarship is not transferable or redeemable for cash, should the recipient choose to find their own off-campus accommodation or provide/purchase their own meals.
4. An additional weekly payment be charged if scholarship recipient wishes to upgrade the twin share accommodation to a single room.
